DOWLING, Peter Michael, Peacefully in the comfort of his own home, with his loving family at his side on Sunday, July 5, 2026, aged 83 years. Dearly loved husband of Wendy for 57 wonderful years. Much loved father and father-in-law of Joanne and Chris Dowling-Smith, Rochelle and Brian Falconer, Stephanie and Craig Argyle, treasured Grandad of Alex, Dion, Lochy, and Hannah. Much loved brother, brother-in-law, Uncle and great-Uncle, who will be sadly missed by all his extended family.

A Requiem Mass for Peter will be celebrated in The Church Of The Blessed Sacrament, Ardwick Street, Gore on Monday, July 13, at 1pm followed by a private cremation. Family warmly invite you to join them at the RSA, 12 Bowler Avenue, Gore for light refreshments. Wendy and the girls sincerely thank Hospice Southland nurses, especially Amelia, and Helen; and the many district nurses, particularly Fran, and Rachel for their compassionate care, kindness and support during Peter's final days. My memories of Peter are of when we visited Aunty Mary and Uncle Reg, firstly in Lockerbie St, Invercargill, and then in their home in Gore. Peter had a lovely grin that made him look as though he was always smiling. Being quite a bit younger than my Dowling cousins, I was a bit in awe of them. Peter was always very friendly and interested in what was happening in the lives of me and my sisters, Helen and Anne Marie. I know he will be sadly missed by Wendy and the girls, their husbands and grandchildren, especially.

As a Dunedin raised 3rd generation decendants of Thomas Kilkelly, Peter was the big cousin down south from whom I inherited football boots and oversized jerseys as teenager. He was also the favourite nephew of his aunts who likewise visited him at H &J's.
So until we meet again cous. keep up that friendly smile,
