HAPE, Maia Justine Navua Papakura (nee Reihana) (formerly of Tuturau), In her sleep in Windsor Park Care Home on Monday, August 17, 2026, aged 82 years. Beloved wife of the late John, loved Mum and mother-in-law of the late Tony, Justine and Barry McClelland (Gorge Road), Kororia (Mataura), Roimata and Nigel (Mataura), and much loved Taua of her many mokopuna. Maia is at rest for visitors at Southern Funeral Home, 106 Hokonui Drive, Gore until Wednesday 19th 9am, when she will leave for Temuka. A farewell for Maia will be held in the Te Hapa O Niu Tireni Marae, Temuka before her burial on Thursday, Ausust 21st. Messages to: 10 Dover Street, Mataura 9712.
Please accept our sincere condolences on the death of Maia. As a first time Mum and Dad Maia and John were wonderful neighbours and community members of Tuturau. I will always value our chats at the school as Maia went about her duties after school. She had wisdom beyond her years and I appreciated her caring and positive attitudes about the real values of life. May you all be strengthened by her legacy of unconditional love and respect for whanau.
